This rhododendron has showy, deep red flowers in ball-shaped trusses up to 5 inches wide.  Thick, glossy, dark green leaves year round in a dense, mounding, upright form.

It is a moderate grower and like the other rhododendrons does best in partial shade with at least a minimum of 4 hours of sunlight each day to set the flower buds for next year.  Is more heat and sun tolerant then many of the other rhododendrons.

Plant in moist, good, well-drained, acidic soil.  Ideal for foundation or border planting, evergreen background or hedge.
