Fescue, Elijah Blue
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'

This grass sports strongly blue foliage that grows stiff, spiky, and fine textured.  Clump forming and densely tufted, it forms a neat, little mound.  Upright flower panicles form in late spring, early summer and are colored much like the foliage then fade to a light tan.

One of the best blue fescues because it is one of the bluest, is the most heat and drought tolerant, and is more durable and longer lived than others.  Great as a color accent, container plant, for edging, rock gardens and small groups.

Seaside and salt spray tolerant. Semi-evergreen in warmer climates, it turns brownish in colder climates.  Cut foliage to ground in late winter, early spring.  Flowerheads can be cut after drying for neater appearance.

Best foliage color in full sun.
